Located at the mouth of Galway Bay, the Aran Islands offer visitors a glimpse into a way of life that has long gone. They offer beautiful scenery, ecclesiastical ruins, medieval castles, cliffs, stone forts including Dún Aonghasa ring fort, sandy beaches and lighthouses. The islands share some of the Burren’s unique flora and fauna. The islands are rich in folklore and history and make for a great day trip.
